VOAz Segment of The Arizona Trail - Maintenance - Blue Ridge

VOAz volunteers will perform necessary trail maintenance on portions of the entire 16.4 mile Turkey Mountain segment, Happy Jack passage of the AZ Trail up on the Mogollon Rim

EVENT DESCRIPTION HAS CHANGED Our segment of the AZ Trail consists of 90% jeep roads. While we wait for government approvals to build more single track we will improve the existing trail by installing additional AT signs and removing fallen timber.
The work we will be doing will be spread across 15 miles, so we will drive the trail route rather that try to backpack with tools. The jeep roads in question are true 4x4 trails that make for very slow driving. This event is not recommended for people who dislike bumpy dirt roads or anyone with back, neck or kidney problems.
The same weekend the Arizona Trail Association (ATA) will be holding their Fall Rendezvous at Mormon Lake. There is a $20 fee to cover camping (Mormon Lake) and 3 meals. Late fee will be $30 after Sept 10. |
